Thank you for your interest in Farmville Gardens.  We believe your interest says something good about you!  We are committed to doing our best to attract a small group of individuals, couples, and families who will own their own homes, share ownership of the larger property, love being neighbors with one another, and share many aspects of rural living in a beautiful, supportive setting.  We seek people who love others, like to be of service, and have interpersonal relationship skills that support a healthy, yet diverse community life.  Here are our steps to become a homeowner and Equity Member of Farmville Gardens…

1.      Subscribe to our Newsletter and keep up on our progress. Read and reflect on our story, vision, mission, values, and property information from our website and newsletter.

Become familiar with the definitions of terms such as “Cohousing Communities”, “Pocket Neighborhood”, “Permaculture”,  “Sociocracy”, and “Consultation” as it applies to its use in our community.

2.      Perform the Self Evaluation  This tool is for your private use designed to help you discern whether you are a good fit for us and we are a good fit for you by answering questions.  We encourage you to do your own due diligence and conduct your own research in areas of interest.

3.     Think, pray, meditate and sleep on your decisions and discuss as a family before formally requesting approval for an Associate Membership.

4.      Apply to be an Associate Member by completing the questionnaire. All adult members of your household will participate in an interview with us which may generate a request for more information.  Upon approval, you will receive access to members’ contact information and encouraged to contact them individually to get to know them and ask questions.  After receiving an orientation of our planning process, and payment of a non-refundable fee that will fund outside consultants and designers, you may then participate in our planning process of brainstorming, discussion, and consensus.

5.      Request an Equity Membership.  After being an Associate Member for a minimum of 30 days and demonstrating engagement with planning and getting to know the current members,  you may formally request Equity Membership. Specific instructions on how to apply will be provided to Associate Members.  If approved, you will be expected to begin paying HOA dues, and pay the refundable down payment on your private land which includes joint ownership of the entire property.

Equity Members are empowered and expected to participate in Farmville Gardens development meetings, the Brainstorming, Discussion, and Consensus process, and group activities as may be available and planned.

Depending on public response,  it may be possible that you will be placed on a “waiting list” for approval of Equity Member based on the date order of granting Associate Membership.  Some are expected to drop out or be unable to progress their home construction/finance work in a timely manner.  In these cases, an opening will be made available to those on the waiting list.

6.      The next step is to become a Resident Member.   This means you have been an Equity Member in good standing, purchased your land, paid your HOA dues, and have secured the financing to construct your home. You have also engaged in development and design meetings and contributed to the overall improvement of Farmville Gardens. It is time to move in, and continue to create your life of regenerative abundance.
